Passover and Pentecost Differences Settled!

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By David Ben-Ariel Why do we differ on Passover and Pentecost? Is it because our Father God left us in the dark? Has the God of law and order left us in chaos and confusion? Are we unable to “prove all things” from the Scriptures - as we’re commanded - because we’re unable to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the correct dates to observe God’s holy days? DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? Since there are many questions on this holy subject, we must start from the premise that God’s Word is true, consistent and does not contradict itself (John 10:35) We must look for those basic Scriptures that are black and white and build our biblical case upon them. Such supportive Scriptures are actually abundantly available and the biblical evidence is overwhelming! Let us shine the Light of God’s Word on our prayerful study with open minds, hearts and Bibles (Isa. 8:20; John 3:19-21; Acts 17:11). The apostle Paul was inspired to write for the record that “the oracles of God” were committed to the Jews. The sacred calendar is clearly a part of “the oracles of God” (Ex. 12:2; Lev. 23:4). The purpose of the sacred calendar is for the Jews to determine and declare when the holy days of God are to be observed. Jesus clearly revealed which Jews were responsible for these holy matters. Jesus declared that “the scribes and the PHARISEES sit in Moses’ seat” of AUTHORITY (Matt. 23:2). God has ordained that the Jews preserve His Word on the Law, Prophets and Writings - despite themselves (Rom. 3:2-3). God will not renege on giving Judah this special calling and precious gift (Gen. 49:10, Rom. 11:29). God has also ordained that Church officials can make binding decisions based upon biblical legal precedents, affecting Church issues (such as discussed in Acts 15 at the Jerusalem council of elders), that do not undermine the foundation of the Church - the Law and the Prophets (Rom. 11;18; Eph. 2:20). God has not given Church leaders a license to “kill” the brethren by destroying them doctrinally, uprooting and overturning foundational truths, or “playing God” by stealing divine prerogatives! (Matt. 5:17, 19; 2 Thess. 2:3-4). The correct dates to observe God’s holy days should not be a Church issue, having been settled by God thousands of years ago and preserved throughout the ages by faithful Jews. So why do we differ on Passover and Pentecost? Because some have refused, rejected, denied and attempted to dismiss the biblical testimony! (Rom. 1:18; 3 John 9-10). We don’t differ because God’s forgotten or neglected to properly instruct His children in His ways (Deut. 6:7). We don’t differ because we’re unable to prove from the Scriptures, beyond a reasonable doubt, what’s right and what’s wrong. “Come now and let us reason together, saith the LORD” (Isa. 1:18), “for the LORD has a controversy with His people, and He will plead with Israel” (Micah 6:2). We differ because some have questioned God’s right to choose the Jews to preserve the Bible and doubt God’s ability to see that they fulfill their serious responsibility (Ex. 4:11; Isa. 45:9). We differ because some won’t submit to the biblical fact that Jesus clearly decreed that the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat and attempt to usurp that authority by forcibly installing the Sadducees in that position instead. God destroyed the power-base of the Sadducees when the Temple was destroyed but preserved the Pharisees. The Sadducees are history! We must make sure that we support God’s chosen and not find ourselves in the enemy camp. (I Kgs. 2:27,35; Acts 5:39). God’s Church, as a general rule, has stubbornly followed the blind Sadducean dates for Passover and Pentecost. That is to our shame! We must reject the rebellious traditions of men for the commandments of God, otherwise God will reject us as His Priest-King (Mark 7:7-9; 1 Sam. 15:23). It’s that serious! Some, knowing better, continue to enjoy bitter strife and envying, getting caught up in proud personality clashes rather than humbling themselves before the Word of God ( 2 Tim. 2:23-26; Jas. 3:13-18). Truth is truth. It shouldn’t be a matter of “I’m right and you’re wrong,” but what does God’s Word say? God is truth. None of us owns the truth, only God does. Any truth that we might have God’s revealed it to us (1 Cor. 4:6-7). We’re not to take credit for it - all credit goes to God (2 Cor. 4:7). Thankfully, a growing number of the brethren are beginning to see that the Bible does prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, which holy dates God would have us to observe. Therefore, may we celebrate God’s holy days as He would have us to - “in spirit and in truth” - and praise Him for restoring this truth to His Church! Freedom Fraud

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Ed Howes If you continue in my words, (conscientious study and application) then are you my disciples indeed (followers who do right by others in their words and deeds, public and private) and IF disciples, you shall know the truth (That I am the I AM) and the Truth (I) will MAKE you free. Scripture tells us, Jesus tells us, the Truth that makes one free and the resulting freedom is obtained by meeting conditions. That is, it is a conditional gift. The condition makes freedom a personal choice. Doesnt everyone want freedom? No. Most people want security. Security is the polar opposite of freedom. One can neither be secure in freedom, nor free in security. According to John Locke, a major influence on Americas founding fathers, a man is free under natural law, to do as he is able. Survival of the fittest. In this free state, a man must be ready to defend against every attack on his property, life and liberty by man or beast. The moment a man contracts with others for mutual security, he surrenders much of his liberty in duty to his fellow contractors and is then subject to mutually agreed upon social rules, regardless of their source. He is no longer free. This explains why the entire idea of freedom is relative. In the society of lawful obligations a man is free insofar as he performs his contractual duties to others, who support his lawful rights under the social contract. I think it is safe to assume that the freedom of which Jesus spoke was also that of civilized, socialized people who would love their neighbors as the foundation of the social contract. The duty of love is an infringement on absolute liberty, or survival of the fittest. A loving society insures survival of the less and least fit to the best of its ability, always at some cost to individual liberty. So why are the New Age CINOs (Christians In Name Only) telling Afghanis and Iraqis that the United States Government will make them free, on the condition they accept violent revolution and democracy? Why dont CINOs continue in Jesus words and learn the Truth that makes people free? What happened to agree with your adversary quickly, while you are in the way with him? Wasnt 9/11 the result of ignoring an adversary for many years? What ever happened to I say unto you, love your enemies? What happened to the golden rule? Was it suspended for political expedience? Is humility what you get when you have exhausted every other option and your spirit? By this they will know you are my disciples, that you love one another. So whose disciples are they who say we will control and dominate one another? Who sends his beloved brethren and fellow disciples to kill and die? We will bend all others to our will. Our wrath is righteous and theirs misguided. Who do these disciples serve, that we might know them and know their god? In the study of scripture, the student should learn what is not said can be more important than what is. Jesus did not say there is no other way to know the Truth or that no person can be free except they be disciples. Surely we can free others the same way we can free an eagle raised in captivity. Its chances of survival will be poor to none but we will have set it free. What if we have the eagle vote in an election? Surely that will increase its odds of survival and its freedom. The world is now living the dreams of madmen. Let us live a better dream. Let us see the madness. Let the freedom lovers create their own freedom. Let the security lovers create their own security. Let us stop pretending one thing is another. When Jesus said a man cannot serve God and greed, or mammon in the King James Version, He was not speaking an absolute. It is as those who pretend to do both are mocking Jesus, saying; look at me - and you said it couldnt be done. The point was that when we try such a compromise we will favor one and neglect the other. All an observer needs to know is how well is a government and its people serving greed? Who is being neglected? The whole world knows and the servants of greed pretend nobody notices. People like Michael Moore and Seymour Hersh are making the pretense very difficult. The borrower is servant to the lender. The United States of America has the greatest debt of all nations and is therefore the greatest servant of all nations. Whoever it is we serve, it is clearly not God and therefore, it must be greed. A master has it in his power to free a slave. But how does a slave free a slave, or many? I heard Moses did it, with a great deal of divine help and encouragement. Today we have servants of servants of servants, co terrorizing people in foreign nations in the name of freedom and democracy, which none have power or authority to bestow or command. Who shall we call upon to come free us from the tyranny of greed and ambition? Osama? Lets get real! Lets say no to the freedom fraud. Ed Howes sought and found. Knocked and entered. Restaurant Fast Food - It’s Not Like Grandma Used to Make

Friday, March 28th, 2008

By Abbie Frank The growth of restaurant fast food cannot be denied. It seems that fast food places are opening up almost on every corner. It’s not unusual to see a McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Popeye’s Chicken, Del Taco, a Burger King and several others all within a block or two of each other. This explosion of fast, fried foods, oversized to meet the growth of people is one of the suspected causes of the overweight phenomenon that’s in all the newspapers. The “super size” or up sizing of fried french fries and drinks is not due to consumer demands but a desire for more profit. The rise of the value menu has lowered the overall profit margins for basic foods at most national fast food restaurants. Managements answer has been to offer a larger product for a “special” price. Although this seems like a good value, from a business standpoint, it adds tremendously to the bottom line. Unfortunately for the consumer, it also adds to their bottom line as well. This strategy works well on 2 fronts for the business. First, consumers think they’re getting a better deal at restaurants that offer to super size their order. This in turn drives the customer decision to do to one store instead of another. So the decision is more based on how much food instead of how healthy the food. The second reason for this strategy is pure profit motive. Let’s say that you typically order a 20 ounce cup of soda. The basic cost of this drink is 1 penny per ounce. That 1 cent per ounce covers the total cost of the drink. That’s electricity to run the machine, the cup, straw, cover, drink product, and ice. That’s right, that 20 ounce beverage costs the restaurant 20 cents and they charge you .79 cents. So as long as they can offer a larger drink at more than 1 cent per ounce, they’re making more money. So raising your drink from a 20 ounce to a 32 ounce cup for only 25 cents more, gives the restaurant an added 13 cents profit from that larger cup. Remember 1 penny per ounce is costs, so the difference between 32 and 20 is 12 ounces which is 12 pennies and they charge 25 cents for the upsize! Wouldn’t you like to make a 50% profit on any of your investments? Now don’t get all bothered by the huge amounts of money food companies make on drinks. Overall, after the costs of the building, the employees, taxes, product, utilities, etc, the actual net profit from a well run typical franchise fast food place is under 10%. 10% for the investment of hundreds of thousands of dollars is not considered exorbitant by means. Consider that the proprietor could have that investment in a solid mutual fund making at least or a little more without the risk of running a business or dealing with the customer and employee problems that come with any customer service type business. I think we all would probably prefer however, that their pricing model be more geared toward healthy foods and less toward manipulation of the consumer Abigail Franks writes on a variety of subjects. These subjects include Home, Family, and Health to name a few. Visit the site at http://www.restaurantfood.tsonline.org for more information on Fast Food restaurants and food. Camouflage Make-up to Hide All Your Skin Imperfections

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By Nancy Roberts Cam*ou*flage (kam e-flaj) n. — Camouflage is defined in the dictionary as a means of disguising things completely, so they appear a natural part of the surroundings. This holds true for the advanced camouflage make-up available today that conceals major to minor skin imperfections, with precision, yet with a perfectly natural look. This new technology, offers the convenience of a cover-up formula that works for both face and body without setting powder. Application techniques have also become more patient friendly to accommodate the women and men who may not wear ordinary make-up, but need to cover unsightly skin flaws. According to the most recent criteria requested by Dermatologists, Plastic Surgeons and other skin care professionals, camouflage cosmetics should have these inherent qualities: * Clinically Tested * Allergy Tested * Fragrance Free * Non-Comedogenic * Opaque Coverage * Long Lasting * Waterproof * Non-Greasy * Smudge-Resistant * Appropriate For All Skin Types * Natural Shade Selection * Ease of Application * Blendability Serving as an adjunctive service to physician care, Camouflage Therapy helps people help themselves. Skin problems can range from pigmentation disturbances to post operative trauma to diseases of the skin. The camouflage material must be versatile enough to mask most skin imperfections including: Birthmarks, Post Laser Redness, Surgical Discolorations, Chemical Peels, Bruising, Hypo and Hyper Pigmentation, Vitiligo, Rosacea, Lupus, Melasma, Dark Eye Circles, Broken Capillaries, Cleft and Craniofacial Conditions, Acne Blemishes, Psoriasis, Sun Spots, Age Spots, Brown Spots, Varicose Veins and Spider Veins, Surface Scars, Uneven Skin Tone, Fine Lines, Furrows, Freckles, and Tattoos. Detailed instructions should accompany Corrective Cosmetics so that patients can master the cover-p applications that best suits their needs. They want instructions to be short, simple and easy to follow at home. Support services should ideally be provided at a toll-free number or on a dedicated website. In today’s society, where outward image and appearance are increasingly important, camouflaging is gaining speed s the practical solution. Cosmetic cover-ups are desirable options for eliminating some of the emotional barriers caused by skin disfigurations, says Steven D. Shapiro, Board Certified Dermatologist, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He commends the fact that the new age concealers have become uncomplicated and satisfy his multigenerational patient base. With the increased use of camouflaging to hide skin flaws, new application techniques have been developed by Aestheticians and Corrective Make-Up Artists, to provide gratifying results for their clients. Consider these case studies: * Case #1. Linda K, was born with a large port-wine stain running from her neck down to her shoulder. As a twin, having this noticeable mark was very disturbing during her formative years. Until she discovered a concealer that would really last, she tried to live with it. However, she now applies a one-step formula that goes on creamy and dries to a matte finish and she wore a low cut dress to her daughter’s wedding. * Case #2. Angela E, was born with a hemangioma on her face that grew to huge proportions and seriously disfigured her physically and mentally. With the support of her grandmother and caring physicians, she underwent over 30 surgeries and grafts to give her a more normal appearance. Now that she is in her late teens, camouflage make-up has been a welcome solution to some of the scarring and uneven skin-tone that resulted from the reconstructive surgery. Proven Application Techniques: According to Christina Smith, Hollywood Make-Up Artist and Academy Award nominee, “I couldn’t do my job without Camouflage Cosmetics. Most of the beautiful stars I work with have something to hide and I must give coverage that lasts under studio lights. Very often, I need to mix 2 or more shades to obtain the perfect match for my client’s skin tone (there’s no retouching in film photography). Although the shade mixing can be done on the hand, I prefer to use a Q-tip and blend the shades on a piece of wax paper less mess and easier blending. * Camouflage make-up is very opaque and should be applied gradually until complete coverage is achieved. Allow time for make-up to dry completely. * Corrective Cosmetics should be formulated to be worn under make-up, over make-up or alone. * For best results choose a camouflage make-up shade that closely matches your skin tone. Match the area that is being covered since the skin on your hand may be a different shade than your face. * Use a light, non-greasy primer before applying camouflage products. This primer will help prepare the skin for a smoother application. * Blending is the KEY to successful camouflaging on large areas. For a nice smooth finish, apply cover material and use a dry, wedge-shaped sponge to evenly blend make-up on face and neck. For targeted areas such as scars and blemishes use fingertips to blend edges. * Try using camouflage products for contouring: use a slightly darker shade than your natural skin tone to minimize areas. For example, to minimize a broad nose, draw contour line down both sides of the nose and blend with a sponge. Contouring and highlighting can help minimize the look of swelling. * Camouflage products are much more than ordinary foundations and concealers. They can be used daily as a foundation for uneven skin tones and to soften the redness associated with rosacea. * For scarred areas use a camouflage crme slightly darker than skin tone since scarred tissue usually has a loss of pigment. * For post surgery, use a concealing make-up that is creamy in texture so it won’t pull on the skin during the application process. * It is recommended that cosmetic surgery patients purchase their camouflage makeup before surgery in the correct shade since it is difficult to “shop post op.” * After procedures around the eyes, it may be simpler for the patient to use a highly pigmented cover-stick with a creamy consistency to get into corners and avoid tugging on the delicate eye area. * A word of caution — all cosmetic cover-ups should never be applied to open skin lesions or raw irritated skin. Seek the advice of a physician if you are in doubt about when it is appropriate to apply a concealer. Flori Roberts and Nancy Roberts of Smart Cover(R) Cosmetics. Bass Fishing Tips (Jigs)

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Jack Phillips Jigs are one of the oldest artificial baits used in angling. The earliest examples used a weighted hooks with animal hairs or bird feathers tied to them. The jigs used today are still just that simple, but come in a wide variety of styles. By adding an assortment of jigs to your tackle box will make you a much more versatile and consistently productive bass angler. Jigs can be broken down into two general categories; those that are designed for light-line use, for smallmouth and finesse largemouth bass fishing; and those designed for the heavier line and largemouth bass in and around cover. The light-line jigs are a lot less bulky than their larger cousins. The hooks are also a lot smaller. Relatively snag-free conditions are fished with these jigs, allowing the use of spinning outfits with 6 to 10 pound (2.7 to 4.5 kg) lines. Jig heads come in a large number of varieties, but a few basic styles are all you really need to get yourself started. The standard ball-head is a great choice to begin with. However, the banna shaped head will snag a lot less vegetation in the weedy situations you get into. Other styles, like the arrowheads, can be used in both situations. Add to them a new array of sliders, rockers and wobblers are used mainly by walleye anglers, but horizontally flattened sliders are useful for fishing over and around shallow bass cover. One of the oldest jig dressings is buck tail. When worked properly, the deer hairs pulsate as the jig is pumped through the water to resemble a darting minnow or baitfish. There is no built in action to jigs. The plastic rails are the easiest jigs to use. Their actions attract bass and can be worked effectively even by the novice angler. Twister tails, shad tails, twin tails and a host of other shapes and actions are also available. Stick to these two common types and you will no trouble attracting those lunker bass. One light style is the tube jig, its a split-skirted plastic sheath that covers the jig head. You can use standard heads with them, but the newer elongated styles, developed for tubes specifically are of course best. When using a tube you can also use fish scents to help attract more bass. Heres a great bass fishing tip, put a few small chunks of alkaseltser in your tubes the bubbles created will drive the bass crazy. The bubbles will also attract bass from a longer distance. Be sure to use light jigs for largemouth and smallmouth bass in open-water situations. When you are fishing in heavy cover, switch to bulkier flipping jigs with weed guards to help keep them from fouling or snagging. These baits usually have rubber or plastic skirts and large hooks. They work great with a pork rind, plastic or one of the newer trailers. They also add bulk and action and help slow down the jigs fall to better imitate a crayfish or other creature. Use flipping jigs when fishing short-range targets, such as docks, submerged stumps, or holes in heavy vegetations and weedbeds. To pull large bass out of this heavy stuff, use strong baitcasting equipment. Jigs come in an assortment of colours. Try to match the forage of the water body you are fishing. Blacks, browns, and orange are the standard. When they fail to fool the bass, experiment with the brighter colours, such as yellow, chartreuse, orange, red, or blue. For clear-water smallmouth bass the smoke bodies are effective. Just experiment and get out there and go fishing. Jack Phillips has been an avid Canadian angler for over 50 years. Mineral Cosmetics - Is This a Healthy Alternative?

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Charles McCallister With the market being flooded with the miraculous mineral cosmetics, there is a definite urge among people, to understand what makes up the so-called natural cosmetic range. Mineral cosmetics are technically better than the otherwise available cosmetics, and are certainly preferred by dermatologists, owing to the natural composition. Mineral makeup is made from naturally existing mineral elements. The minerals are mixed up with an assortment of inorganic pigments and undergo various steps like milling, pulverization and purification, before reaching the end consumer. Pigments are responsible for the color and shimmer effects. These components also contribute towards the inorganic and inert properties of mineral cosmetics. The latest range in the category of mineral cosmetics also claims to include vitamins, in a frozen form, to lend that extra edge. Mineral Cosmetic IngredientsThe typical ingredients deployed in manufacture of mineral cosmetics include: Titanium Dioxide Zinc Oxide Kaolin Clay Dimethicone Serecite Mica Magnesium Stearate Bismuth Oxychloride Talc (Magnesium Silicate Hydroxide) Silica Cornstarch Rice Powder 100% Pure Silk Iron Oxides Boron Nitride The Benefits Of Applying Mineral Makeup A cure for sensitive skin Mineral cosmetics offer a respite from various skin ailments like acne, pimples, dryness, clogged pores, etc. They are non-comedogenic and therefore, ideal for sensitive skin types. Mineral cosmetics are inert and inorganic and therefore, do not promote microbial growth. Being finely milled, the makeup granules are much smaller than the pores and therefore, do not clog them, thus helping cleaner skin surface. Finer application Mineral makeup has a lighter and different texture. The items are made up of microscopic flat crystals that are mixed together to offer a filtering layer on the skin, which helps the skin to breathe even with makeup on. A translucent and natural look is guaranteed with mineral makeup. Stays longer than regular cosmetics Mineral cosmetics do not smear easily and therefore, stay for longer hours. Least harmful Mineral cosmetics do not contain harmful preservatives like parabens, dyes, fillers or oils, which are present in abundance in regular cosmetic range. Mineral cosmetics, owing to their natural composition, do not require preservatives for an increased shelf life. Sunscreen qualities Mineral cosmetics contain components like Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, which provide the desired shield from harmful ultra violet (UVA-UVB protection) sunrays. Perfect for application on skin post medical treatment Mineral cosmetics have anti-inflammatory properties, which make them an apt choice for makeup on skin that has undergone any kind of treatment. They cool the skin and facilitate faster healing. Moreover, the elements present in mineral cosmetics help to naturally refresh and rejuvenate the tired skin, which is like a dream come true in the preset tiring schedules. Thinning of the fine lines and skin pores Mineral cosmetics contain Mica, which, being a natural translucent creates an illusion of smoother and softer skin type. Forget the pains of taking off the makeup mask Usually after the end of a tiring day, it seems tedious to devote another half hour towards taking off the makeup. With mineral cosmetics, this is not always sought. Mineral cosmetics allow a nap with makeup on. And it still stays the next morning. A Line Of Caution Mineral cosmetics are good for skin and can help attain that young look. However, few components present in the natural cosmetics can be harmful for certain skin types and may cause skin allergies. Therefore, while purchasing any product, it is imperative to check the labels for ingredients that could be harmful to the skin. Moreover, various brands tend to pass on the not so natural products under the cover of mineral cosmetics. Dyes are added to grant an edge, in terms of shades available, in the range of mineral cosmetics, which could again be harmful. Mineral cosmetics have certainly introduced a new era in the domain of cosmetics. The benefits seem endless. Mineral cosmetics have something to offer for all. However, a few pitfalls like irritation to few skin types can certainly not be ignored. Yet owing to its positives, popularly referred to as skin care makeup, mineral cosmetics are gaining in terms of usage and so, certainly deserve a trial. Reflect the Light of Jesus Christ

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Alan D Campbell During the Feast of Tabernacles, the Jews had a ceremony of lights. They lit huge golden candlesticks with golden bowls on them and placed them in the Temple area in the Court of the Women. These lights illuminated all of Jerusalem. Chapter 8 of Book IV of the classic work The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah by Alfred Edersheim, tells us in this connection that the term “light” was specially applied to the Messiah. It was in this context that Jesus Christ clearly indicated that he was the Messiah when he said I am the light of the world, as recorded in John 8:12 (KJV). Christians are called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to the world and to help spread the gospel to all the world. We Are to Walk in the Light We have been called by God the Father to walk in the light of his truth as the apostle John shows in I John 1:5-7: “5This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” (KJV) God has given all power in heaven and earth to Jesus Christ, who is head of the Church. Jesus Christ has given his disciples the great commission of spreading the light of the gospel to all nations. We must follow the light of Jesus Christ because a good example is important in fulfilling our calling to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20). Although Satan may appear as an angel of light, the true light comes from Jesus Christ and the Word of God. They light our path so that we can follow where the light leads with boldness. We are to study Gods Word diligently so that we can see the true light for our journey. We need the light of Gods Word to guide us in our daily lives at school, at work, in the home, and in the church. We must admit our sins when the light shows us that we are off course, seek Gods forgiveness, and ask Him for a course correction. Sometimes the course we are following seems to be good, but we must be willing to change course as we better understand the Word of God. We must walk in the light by faith. We must grow in grace and knowledge so that we can better reflect the light of Christ to others (II Peter 3:18). We Are to Be Lights to the World Jesus Christ instructs us to be lights as recorded in Matthew 5:14-16 “14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (KJV) Jesus Christ, the source of light, tells us that we also are to be sources of light. However, the light does not originate with us. We can only reflect the true light that comes from Jesus Christ. Our good works light the path for others. Nothing teaches others better than does a good example. People usually do not care how much we know about the Bible. However, they are moved by our example and how much we care about them as shown by our good works. What are some of the ways that we can reflect the light of Jesus Christ through good works? Our good works do not have to be major events or cost a great deal of money. Little things mean a lot. A card, letter, or telephone call can help to brighten someones day. Prayer for those who are sick is something we all can do. When and Why They Will Glorify God People who see the good works of Christians will glorify God in the day of visitation as the apostle Peter wrote in I Peter 2:12: “12Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.” (KJV) The day of visitation is when God calls them and begins to work with them. They will glorify God in the day of visitation when they view the good works they have seen from Christians more closely. They will see that God is the source of their light. ativan effects lipitor ambien buy medication ativan cheap inurl cheapest www ambien com

A Tidbit of Quilting History

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Penny Halgren Quilting began in America from a shortage of fabric and the ingenuity of the early settlers. Women would turn worn-out clothes, blankets, curtains, towels, and sheets into works of art to keep their families warm during the cold New England winters. As with so many other community events, such as building homes and barns, sharing the harvests, and celebrating, quilting became an activity that brought families together for the common good. Women would gather, often weekly, to sew. Fabric, patterns, and labor were shared. Frequently, everyone in the group would work on the same quilt so it could be finished in a shorter period of time. Small quilts were made to welcome a new baby into the community; large bed-size quilts were made for a young couple getting married; and other quilts were made as blankets were needed or when fabrics were available. As girls grew up, they joined the quilting circles, learning quiltmaking skills, becoming a part of the quilting community, and continuing the tradition initiated many generations prior. As America grew and changed, so did quilting. Quilting circles continue their tradition in some communities, both in geographical and in social communities. New forms of quilting circles have been created weekly or monthly gatherings of loosely-formed groups making quilts for a specific cause, i.e., breast cancer, neglected and/or abused children, AIDS patients, etc. Quilt Guilds offer an opportunity for quilters to meet periodically to exchange ideas, learn new skills, and share their stories. The transfer of quilting knowledge and skills has taken a different form, not relying on the community quilters to include individuals in their circle to share their craft. With manufacturing and technology providing tools and fabrics for quilters that make creating a quilt easier and more fun, opportunities have opened up for people of all ages to enjoy a craft not previously accessible to them. Information technology has now expanded the opportunities even more. As the art of quilting has traveled around the world, people across the globe have become interested in learning a craft that ties generations, families, communities, and human beings together. By Mary Jane Holmes Did you know that you can get wedding Insurance? There are companies that will cover your losses, if a major catastrophe should occur. A wedding can cost more than a new car. You insure your car, why not your wedding? If a hurricane prevents your groom from flying in for the wedding, or the caterer goes out of business, and any number of other nightmarish events occur, you can recover the money you have paid out. What is Wedding Insurance? Insuring your wedding is just like insuring your car, home or business. If the Reception hall burns to the ground the night before the wedding, insurance may help you to recover all of the money you have spent. What is Covered? Insurance covers a number of things important to having the wedding of your dreams, such as weather, the key people, gowns, rings, gifts and any number of other items. Here are some things and situations that may be covered. Cancellation costs - Any unforeseen event that forces you to cancel the wedding. A tornado destroys the church, or the photographer doesnt show the bridal salon closes down before your dress is finished, all are situations, which can be covered by wedding insurance for having the wedding on another day, and for such expenses as flowers, the cake and invitations. Vendors If vendors like the caterer dont show up on the big day, insurance will cover the cost of changing the wedding date. Illness or Injury You may be covered if the bride, groom, or anyone essential to the wedding is ill or injured and can not attend. Wedding pictures and videos may be covered if your film is ruined or the photographer never arrives you may be reimbursed if you find another photographer or reschedule the wedding.Clothes If the Tuxedo or wedding gown are inadvertently damaged beyond repair before the wedding, you can get replacements and your insurance will pay. Gifts If any of your gifts are damaged or stolen you maybe covered,. Check your policy carefully. There may be a limit for making a claim, such as 7 days after the wedding.Special Jewelry If your wedding rings are lost, damaged or stolen most companies will cover the insured values of the rings Military Deployment if either the bride or groom are in the military and are on leave for the wedding and have their leave revoked, insurance may cover the the cost of postponing the wedding. However, if either of them are in the military and not on leave, and are deployed that is not covered. The average cost of a wedding insurance policy is between $200.00 and $300.00. A real bargain when you consider that most weddings today cost upwards of $12,000. Before you buy insurance, gather all of your receipts, make copies, one for the insurance company so they have figures to work with. Give a copy to your parents to hold and if you have a safe deposit box, store the originals there, in case you need to file a claim. What if You Could Learn the Secrets of the Skinny?

By Marna Goldstein You know who I’m talking about… the ones who fearlessly order anything they please at a restaurant. Ask them their weight and they probably cant even tell you — they dont know it. Question them about the number of calories in a chocolate chip cookie and youre left with a blank stare. THEY are the men and women who dont know how much they weigh, or even think about food in relationship to their emotions. They are naturally thin people — the enemy to anyone whos ever battled the bulge. But please don’t think badly of them. You too can be one of them, says Marna Goldstein, author of the new Guided Meditations that help people think thin. This weight loss specialist has spent the last nine years helping people transform their heavy bodies to lighter ones. Marna Goldstein, founder of Thin From Within and www.thinwithin.com, has made it her mission to get women and men alike to stop dieting and start learning how to live Thin From Within. The idea, according to Goldstein, is to emulate the way naturally thin people think. Goldstein continues, Sometimes we think, when I get down to a size 6, then Ill be happy. Thin From Within teaches that you must be happy first, in order to achieve your desired weight loss goals and to live a full and rich life. I will teach you how to be free from dieting and restrictions forever, states the Colorado native. Goldstein states that the regular use of guided meditations has been proven to help release stress and tension, provide you with the ability to focus clearly and make better decisions throughout your daily routine decisions that are in alignment with your weight loss goals. Spending just 10 minutes a day in a relaxed and completely stress-free state can help you experience more peace and less stress throughout the day as well as accelerating your weight loss efforts at the same time. Goldstein created five guided meditations to assist individuals with natural weight loss, and each one costs about as much as a single fast-food meal. A fun part is, that when you purchase one or all of the guided meditation recordings, you will receive a download link that allows you to listen wherever you are using your iPod, computer, or MP3 player.
